Rarity and Collectible Value
This autographed vinyl record is associated with Andrea Bocelli, one of the most internationally recognized Italian tenors of the modern era. The record sleeve bears Bocelli’s large signature in silver-colored ink across the lower portion of the cover, clearly visible against the dark background. The autograph is accompanied by a JSA Certificate of Authenticity, reference VV05888, adding an important layer of documented provenance to the collectible.
The record is especially significant because it represents Bocelli’s self-titled album Bocelli, released in 1995. The album became a major breakthrough in his international career and includes “Con te partirò,” one of the songs most closely associated with him. Bocelli’s official career history records that the album later topped charts across Europe, reaching No. 1 in France for six weeks and No. 1 in Belgium for twelve weeks, while achieving multiple gold and platinum certifications.
Origin and Musical Context
Andrea Bocelli first achieved wide public recognition after winning the Newcomers section of the Sanremo Music Festival in 1994 with “Il mare calmo della sera.” His self-titled second album followed in 1995 and marked an important stage in the development of the crossover style that would make him internationally famous. Bocelli’s official discography confirms that the album includes “Con te partirò,” “Per amore,” “Vivo per lei,” “Romanza” and other songs that became central to his early repertoire.
“Con te partirò” was first presented by Bocelli at the Sanremo Festival in 1995. Its later duet version with Sarah Brightman, known internationally as “Time to Say Goodbye,” became an enormous commercial success and helped introduce Bocelli’s voice to a global audience. His career subsequently developed across both popular and classical music, with performances and recordings ranging from contemporary ballads to complete operatic roles. According to his official biography, Bocelli has sold more than 90 million records worldwide.
Design and Presentation
The album cover features a close portrait of Bocelli against a predominantly black background, with his surname printed prominently across the upper section in blue lettering. The restrained design directs attention toward the singer’s face and creates a particularly effective surface for the autograph.
Bocelli’s signature is executed diagonally across the lower left and central portion of the sleeve in metallic silver ink. Its broad, fluid strokes contrast strongly with the dark photographic background and transform the commercial record cover into an individualized piece of memorabilia.
Measuring 31.5 × 31.5 cm, the record retains the classic square proportions of a vinyl LP. Its size, graphic cover and prominent signature make it suitable for wall-mounted or showcase presentation while preserving its identity as an original music format rather than a purely decorative photograph.
Human Touch
Bocelli’s career is remarkable not only for its commercial scale but also for the personal circumstances behind it. He had serious visual impairment from childhood and lost his remaining sight at the age of twelve. Nevertheless, he pursued both academic studies and music before developing the career that eventually brought classical vocal repertoire to audiences far beyond the traditional opera world.
Outside music, horses have remained an important part of his life. Bocelli has written that he received his first horse at the age of ten and has continued riding throughout his life, describing horses as a source of freedom and direct contact with nature.
This signed record therefore represents more than a successful album. It connects the collector with the period in which Bocelli’s distinctive fusion of classical vocal technique and popular song began reaching an international audience. The handwritten autograph adds an individual human element to an album that helped establish one of the most recognizable voices in contemporary music.
